The OT-101 is a training designed to walk you through the first steps of building a militant union in your workplace. By carefully and systematically building an organizing committee, you will learn how to shift the power balance in favor of workers using our best weapons : direct action and solidarity!
Participants will be trained in the tradition of solidarity unionism which has historically made the IWW so effective at bettering workers livelihood. This training will cover the differences between an IWW union and mainstream union models, stages of an organizing campaign, gathering contacts and mapping your workplace, doing one-on-ones and building an organizing committee, dealing with various forms of oppression in the workplace, preparing for the boss’ retaliation and carrying out direct action.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. We ask you to commit to both days of training to get the most out of your experience.
We ask for a voluntary contribution of 20$ from non-members and 10$ from members to cover food costs, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
